Different type of water treatment chemicals

Overview

In an array of methods to speed up disinfection, chemicals are used during wastewater treatment. Advanced chemicals such as chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, sodium chlorite, and sodium hypochlorite act as agents to disinfect, sanitize, and help purify waste water in treatment facilities. Every industry has to ensure that its trade effluent meets the standard requirements. In providing clean water internationally, the water treatment industry plays an important role and avoids numerous water-related illnesses.

In many water treatment systems, the choosing of the chemical is the choice of critical significance. We are one of India’s leading chemical suppliers. We provide the best water treatment using high quality and apt chemicals. Some of the chemicals for water treatment are in this blog. Other than these, there are other chemicals too, which are for industrial water treatment

Water Treatment Chemicals

A great range of chemicals are for water treatment. Some of the various kinds of chemicals for water treatment are:

Algaecides:

When we add these chemicals to water, they destroy algae and blue/green algae. Algaecides are active and better options against algae. But for environmental reasons, they’re not usable for algal blooms. Algaecides destroy all of the algae present. But the problem is that they do not eliminate the toxins produced prior to death by the algae.

Antifoams:

Foam originates when certain gas forms are scattering into liquid and forming the mass of bubbles. The presence of foam can cause serious problems both in the functioning of industrial processes and in the quality of finished products. The foam may decrease equipment capability and increase the length and cost of process when it is not kept under control. Blends of antifoam include oils combined with small quantities of silica. Antifoams break down foam into two silicone properties, i.e., incompatibility with aqueous systems and ease of distribution. Antifoam compounds are available as a powder and also as a pure product emulsion.

Antifoams are also chemical agents. We add them during industrial processes to control the wasteful formation of foam. They come in various types, including mineral oil, silicone, organic natural, and organic synthetics. We use suitable forms of antifoams for a different kind of foam that is need to be avoided.

Biocide:

A biocide is a chemical treatment. It is to manage microbial growth efficiently. Problems caused by unregulated microbial development can differ from hazards to health. In preventing and managing the spread of infectious diseases in hospitals and other health facilities, the proper use of biocides is essential. Moreover, biocides are important to prepare drinking water, wastewater treatment, disinfectants, and antifouling agents to avoid mollusks accumulation in industrial pipes.

Boiler water treatment chemicals:

Boiler water treatment includes the following chemicals: · Scavenge oxygen, Inhibition by scale, Inhibition of corrosion, Antifoaming operation regulation of alkalinity.

Coagulants:

We use chemicals for the prevention of coagulation in effluent wastewater treatments, especially for removing solids, water clarification, lime softening, thickening of sludge, and dewatering of solids. Water treatment coagulants contains a collection of molecules that is positive in charge. Charge neutralization are achieved when we add the chemicals to the water and combine them. Usually, inorganic, organic, or a mixture of all types of coagulants are to treat water to remove solids that are present in it.

Corrosion inhibitors:

Corrosion is a general concept that means that the metals changes into a soluble compound. It can result in failure of critical sections of boiler systems, deposition in critical heat exchange areas of corrosion materials, and overall performance loss. At this point we add the corrosion inhibitors. Inhibitors are chemicals that react to a metallic surface and offer a certain degree of protection to the surface.

Corrosion inhibitors are chemical mixture that will slow down the corrosion rate when applied to water or some other process fluid. Depending on their operation mode, they are generally categorized as anodic, cathodic, film-forming, and oxygen-absorbing agents. The chemical properties of water significantly impact the efficacy of most corrosion inhibitors. Physical factors such as temperature and flow velocity also influence it.

Disinfectant:

In water, disinfectants destroy useless microorganisms that are present in it. Various forms of disinfectants exist Chlorine, Chlorine dioxide, Ozone, Hypochlorite. Water disinfection ensures that pathogenic microorganisms are eliminated, deactivated, or destroyed.

Flocculants:

In industrial wastewater treatment, flocculation is an important phenomenon. Flocculants are mainly for the removal of solids in the wastewater treatment industry. It is also for water classification, softening lime, to thicken sludge, and to dehydrate solids. Flocculation is a system in which colloids come out of suspension. It is due to either naturally or due to the addition of a clarifying agent in the form of floc. In applications such as water purification, it is primarily used.

Scale inhibitors:

Scale is the precipitate present on water-contact surfaces. As temperature rises, it results from the precipitation of normally soluble solids that become insoluble. Surface-active negatively charged polymers are scale inhibitors. Scale inhibitors are chemicals that delay or stop the development of scales.

PH neutralizers:

These are the mostly used chemicals, but when and how they are used varies depending on the wastewater production process. When the wastewater blends with other effluents, this would help avoid harmful chemical reactions.
