Overview

Dual media filter is equipped internally with an inlet distributor and a collecting system at the bottom. The system is externally fitted with frontal pipe work and isolation valves. To remove the suspended particles, sand is used. We use anthracite to make the water suitable for various uses. They also help in extracting odor and color, etc. Gravel and pebbles are offered to support all media. The sand-anthracite filter will occasionally backwash, which affects the flow of water through the sand-anthracite filter.

The anthracite filters out the largest particles during the filtration process. Then, through a combination of adhesion and pressure, the sand traps the rest of the particulate matter. As the water particles are filtered out at varying depths in a dual media filter, the filter does not clog as quickly as all the particles have been captured by the top layer.

What are dual media filters?

Dual media filter includes anthracite with marbled and gravel-reinforced fine sand. These filters consist of an anthracite film (1.25-2.5 mm) resting on a fine sand layer (1-1.5mm). Anthracite is coarse and, when we compare them to fine sand, they has more dirt-holding ability. We use dual media in locations where suspended contaminants, turbidity, and iron are present in the raw water. Under conditions of high filtering system volumes, dual media filters also provide very effective particle removal. As a filter medium, these filters use layers of anthracite and garnet pollutants with a filter system quantity of 98 percent down to 2 microns. In order to preserve unit efficiency, the dual media filters use an automated backwashing mechanism that uses a variety of air and water.

This grading of the filter media allows the sand anthracite filter to run for longer periods until it require a backwash. There are two main sections of a sand anthracite filter or multi-media filter:
